Amanda Chantal Bacon

Moon Juice

A maverick in the plant-based movement, author and entrepreneur Amanda Chantal Bacon introduced the first Moon Juice shop to Venice, CA in 2011.  A trailblazing cult mecca for adaptogenic beauty and wellbeing, Moon Juice was born out of a chef’s commitment to superior ingredients and taste, and an herbalist’s perspective on healing. Bacon now oversees one of the most provocative companies in the wellness industry. She continues to lead the conversation about adaptogens and their role in stress management.

Gigi Goldman

Just a few years ago, Gigi Goldman was a stay-at-home mother to three little ones. Like so many busy moms, Gigi rarely had time to devote to any kind of beauty routine, so she kept it simple and natural. The coconut oil that she used in the kitchen was her secret go-to multitasker for glowing skin and glossy hair, curing everything from chapped lips to sunburned shoulders. The more she used coconut oil, the more she realized that its beauty benefits were simply too good to ignore. Gigi brought the idea of developing coconut oil specifically for beauty use to her husband who worked in the beauty business, and they got to work sourcing and developing the purest coconut oil on the planet. They connected with their partners James Brennan and Kiana Cabell, fellow beauty and wellness enthusiasts, and (ta-da!) Kopari was born. Kopari believes in creating natural beauty from the inside out, with products for every part of your beauty routine that are made as pure as possible. In just a couple of years Kopari has grown into a multi-category brand including skincare, body and personal care products that has led to award winning recognition within the beauty industry.

In addition, and what makes Priscilla so unique, is her ability to help fellow startup, female founders like herself. Established in June of 2018, Priscilla launched the Cocokind Impact Foundation, providing financial grants to female entrepreneurs in health, wellness, and sustainability industries who are focused on creating social impact through business and has since awarded over $35,000.

Nicole Hawthorne

Nicole Hawthorne is a 2010 Baylor University graduate with a B.A. in Interior Design, and native Texan. She picked up soak-making as a hobby after no luck finding work post-graduation (due to the recent recession), and turned it into a small business. After a strenuous series of failed fertility treatments in 2016, Nicole and her husband Charles of 6 years conceived on their own, subsequently losing their unborn baby in 2017. Nicole suffers from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), an endocrine syndrome that affects the hormones and reproductive system of women. PCOS is one of the most common causes of infertility in women.

She fell into a deep depression and quit her small soak-making business, among other things. After nearly a year, she began making changes to overcome the heaviness of depression. Instead of feeding it, Nicole used the grief as fuel to create bodycare products made with pure plant ingredients to avoid wear on the hormones. Nicole’s mission is to create clean bath and body products made without endocrine-disrupting chemicals, toxins, and synthetic ingredients, and promote the power of botanicals.

Stephanie Schull

Stephanie Schull, Ph.D., aims to change the game for millions of women with radically effective products that are safe, natural and get to the heart of the matter. Her first product, Kegelbell, is the only externally weighted training system to strengthen the hard-to-reach pelvic floor muscle so essential to vibrant health. She designed it to help busy modern women do a super kegel in less time with incredible results.

This former philosophy professor’s mission is to develop products in the blindspots that big business and big medicine have necessarily overlooked given their worldviews. She enjoys the discovery and invention of things that are hidden in these blindspots; she likes to say that she makes things that should have always existed. Stephanie believes very strongly in the need for a product like Kegelbell to destigmatize the space of women’s health and give women permission to seek out remedies to the issues that have interrupted their happiness for years.

But as a longtime eczema sufferer, Amy couldn’t even enjoy the best part of working in the beauty industry: trying out all the products and treatments! Even the clean alternatives were super expensive or too clinical, like they were coming straight from the doctor’s office. Amy wondered why there was no in-between. Where were the fun, cool, wallet-friendly products that were also gentle and safe? So she set out to create Tower 28, a beauty company inclusive of all skin tones, skin types, budgets, and beauty philosophies – proving #ItsOkayToBeSensitive
