She is also a certified aromatherapist and was named to Folio’s 2016 list of 30 Under 30 Honorees, which recognizes rising talent in the media industry, and was a finalist for this year’s Skin Cancer Foundation Media Award. 

Melisse Gelula

Melisse Gelula is the Co-Founder of Well+Good, a leading health and wellness digital media company with a community of 10+ million monthly. She is also the SVP of Brand of Leaf Group’s Fitness & Wellness Division and an internationally recognized natural beauty and wellness expert. Melisse was named one of the 9 Most Creative Entrepreneurs of 2018 by Inc Magazine and one of the 10 Writers and Editors Who Are Changing the National Conversation by Adweek. She has appeared in Forbes, WWD, the New York Times, as well on Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, and more. Prior to founding Well+Good, Melisse was the editor-in-chief of SpaFinderLifestyle.com, beauty director at Luxury SpaFinder Magazine, and travel editor at Fodor’s. She has a MA from the University of Toronto and has completed six years of training as a psychoanalyst.

Priscilla Tsai

Founder of Cocokind – a clean, conscious, sustainable and accessible skincare brand, dedicated to providing high-quality, natural products at an accessible price. Since its debut in 2015, Tsai led Cocokind to become a profitable business within its first two years and has tripled its growth every year since. Beginning with placement in only one Northern California Whole Foods, Priscilla quickly scaled the business to be found across every single one of its doors and most recently, on the shelves of almost 1,800 national Target stores; amounting to over 4,000 stockists in North America, which also include Shoppers Drug Mart, Follain, Clean Market, Anthropologie, Thrive Market, Urban Outfitters, Free People and Riley Rose.

In addition, and what makes Priscilla so unique, is her ability to help fellow startup, female founders like herself. Established in June of 2018, Priscilla launched the Cocokind Impact Foundation, providing financial grants to female entrepreneurs in health, wellness, and sustainability industries who are focused on creating social impact through business and has since awarded over $35,000.

Emily Dougherty

Editor In Chief

NewBeauty

Emily Dougherty is the editor-in chief of NewBeauty, joining the brand in February 2018.

As editor-in-chief, Dougherty oversees NewBeauty’s editorial vision, directs and executes the creative voice of the brand and leads NewBeauty’s editorial, digital and social teams. Dougherty also works closely with NewBeauty and Beauty Engine President, Agnes Chapski, to further expand the brand’s multi-channel development activities, including its innovative TestTube, Beauty DNA and NewBeauty Pro businesses.

Previously, Dougherty held the title of Beauty and Fitness Director at ELLE where she spent 16 years editing the beauty section, the largest of any U.S. women’s fashion magazine. Under her leadership, ELLE Beauty won more industry awards than all other fashion magazines combined. Prior to ELLE, Dougherty was Deputy Editor at NYLON where she spearheaded the brand’s redesign, which earned an ASME nomination for General Excellence. Dougherty has also held senior positions at Harper’s Bazaar and Mademoiselle.

Dougherty graduated magna cum laude from Yale University. She lives in New York City with her husband and son.

Gigi Goldman

Just a few years ago, Gigi Goldman was a stay-at-home mother to three little ones. Like so many busy moms, Gigi rarely had time to devote to any kind of beauty routine, so she kept it simple and natural. The coconut oil that she used in the kitchen was her secret go-to multitasker for glowing skin and glossy hair, curing everything from chapped lips to sunburned shoulders. The more she used coconut oil, the more she realized that its beauty benefits were simply too good to ignore. Gigi brought the idea of developing coconut oil specifically for beauty use to her husband who worked in the beauty business, and they got to work sourcing and developing the purest coconut oil on the planet. They connected with their partners James Brennan and Kiana Cabell, fellow beauty and wellness enthusiasts, and (ta-da!) Kopari was born. Kopari believes in creating natural beauty from the inside out, with products for every part of your beauty routine that are made as pure as possible. In just a couple of years Kopari has grown into a multi-category brand including skincare, body and personal care products that has led to award winning recognition within the beauty industry.
